On Sunday, the 26th November 2017, on the small square of Giazza (municipality of Selva di Progno – Verona, Italy), the memorial plaque was placed, obtained from a larch trunk, to celebrate the 45 years of life of the European path E5. The E5 passes through the pretty and small village of Giazza. The E5 starts on the Atlantic coast of Brittany and reaches the Constance Lake; crosses the Alps and arrives to Verona, from where it should continue, as planned from the original idea, to Venice. The ceremony, organized by the waymarkers of the European path: Markers Maurizio Boni, Maria Grazia Comini, Giuseppe Franchi and Giuseppe Pighi, in collaboration with the Association for Social Promotion and Sport APSS Abazia, of Badia Calavena, affiliated to the Federazione Italiana Escursionismo (FIE), was attended by the President of the APSS Luigi Venturini, who headed the even. Then, there were present Domenico Pandolfo (3° Vicepresident of the ERA and President of the FIE), Dino Bortolozzo (President of the FIE’s Veneto Regional Committee) , Severino Rungger (Responsible of Paths Commission of FIE), the Mayors of Badia Calavena and Selva di Progno, Emanuele Anselmi and Aldo Gugole, Ermanno Anselmi  (the President of LAG Baldo Lessinia). Moreover, it was attended by Mrs.  Helene Spring who, with her husband Franco Cuoghi, has realized the very first part of the path from Passo della Borcola to Verona. Many walkers and waymarkers participatad in the ceremony too. Following this ceremony, a conference on the E-paths was held in the nearby Cimbri Museum. Many initiatives were discussed and it was proposed to create a card where a stamp can be put while walking on the E-paths. The purpose of the conference was an organisation of a big event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the E5 and series of events along the Italian leg of the E5, from Passo del Rombo to Verona, in 2022. The day ended with a buffet that allowed a tasting of some important local products.
