51 ERA Conference - on ZOOM

09.10.20

Category: Front News, Members News

ZOOM meeting

Due to the Corona-virus crisis in Europe in 2020, the ERA Presidium decided to cancel the physical 51st ERA Conference in Girona (E). Instead a ZOOM video/audio conference took place on Saturday, the 3rd October 2020.

The ERA President, Boris Mićić, welcomed all participants to the 51st meeting, including guests, the Presidium and the Honorary Presidents (Lis Nielsen, Aloys Steppuhn and Ingemund Hägg) who were present.

45 organisations out of 63 ERA member organisations were present with voting rights.

The President stressed in his report the work of the whole Presidium as a team during the last year. The main focus was on:

*  Reconstruction of the ERA Constitution followed with all needed bylaws
*  Preparation of plans for the ERA strategy
*  Partnership in a 3-years ERASMUS+ project, launched by our partner EUMA
*  Various targets by numerous working groups

A new working group “ERA Aqua Walking” was created and started recently its activity under the ERA as the ERA Aqua Walking Steering Committee.

The working groups concerning the enlargement of the “Quality Products” continue in cooperation with the Deutscher Wanderverband Service GmbH (Ltd) to present the pilot projects in the following year (Leading Quality Day Walks) and in 2022 for the Leading Quality Regions.

The working group E-paths is constantly collecting the correct data for the E-paths. The approved information is visible on the ERA promotion website. The E-paths in some countries are still fully missing, in some parts of Europe the contact persons are not easy to be found.

The ERASMUS+ project “Improvement of Good Governance of Climbing and Mountaineering in Europe“ has started. We expect from our MO to participate in this project answering the questionnaires they will receive from our ERA representatives in this project.

The MOs approved the Presidium’s activities for the year 2019 unanimously. This confirms the presidium launched into a good direction to develop new projects, to support the work of the working groups and to continue with the achievement of the ERA strategy, approved in 2019, by working on the plans. The MOs are requested to send their remarks for the plans to reach the ERA strategy by Christmas 2020. A workshop with the interested MOs will be organized within the 1st quarter of 2021. The results of this meeting will be the guidelines for the continuous work of the ERA presidium.

The proposed Budget for 2020 and 2021 was approved as well. In 2021, the ERA presidium will come up with a new proposal for the level of various membership fees.
ERA foundation is the stable source of the financial reserve. But donations from enterprises on an European level are needed to improve the financial reserve. The higher interest of the greater reserve can better support the ERA budget (although interests in the moment are very low).

Two new organisations from Lithuania were approved as new ERA members:
Lietuvos Kaimo Turizmo Asociacija (Lithuanian Countryside Tourism Association) and Camino Lituano. Warm welcome!

All delegates were invited to the 52nd ERA conference, to be held in Sibiu from 29 Sept. to 2 Oct. 2021.

In the same week, from 26 Sept. to 3 October, the ERA main event of the EURORANDO 2021 will be held at the same place. As there are safety concerns regarding the health situation in September 2021, the organisers have presented a plan to offer two Eurorando events – in 2021 as planned, for a limited number of participants (as an opening); and in 2022 as a great final event, when we hope the Covid-19 problems will be solved and travelling will be possible for everyone. The exact dates, a registration procedure and detailed plans for the ER2022 will be available after the 31st October 2020.

The delegates approved the organization of the General Meetings in 2022 in Helsingør (DK) and in 2023 in Poland.

The European Winter Walking Days will be held on 11 – 14 March 2021 in Kartitsch in Eastern-Tyrol (A). Kartitsch is the first winter walking village in Austria and offers 8 guided tours. The accommodation varies from privat to high end hotel rooms. The ERA package with a great reduction offers a large service for participants. The organisers take into account the Corona safety. The payment fees will be refunded by 100 % in case of cancellation because of the Covid-19 regulations.

The top point of the GM was the approval of the new, fully reconstructed ERA Constitution, complemented by bylaws. The main discussions were held during the 3 pre-meetings last week. The presidium did a conclusion and the requested changes were also prepared for approval. After a long discussion and voting procedure the ERA Constitution and bylaws with the changes were approved by more than 2/3 of the present delegates. A big thank you to all delegates involved and other participants for their cooperation.
