Category: Front News, Members News, Walking News

The 5th World Trails Conference was held in Jeju International Convention Center, Jeju island, South Korea from 15th to 17th January with trails experts from 45 organizations in 18 countries and completed successfully.

Since 2010 the Conferences has generated several milestones:

2012: formed the committee for establishing of a World Trail Network(WTN)

2013: established the Asia Trails Network composed of the 15 organizations from Korea, China and Japan
2014: released the ATN passport and hosted the 1st Asia Walking Festival.

There are two main fruits through the Conference this year; the host rotating of World Trails Conference amongst WTN member and Friendship Trail as a Joint Project. The Conference as the platform for the world trail organizations has been hosted by Jeju Olle Foundation in Jeju since 2010, but in the future the host will be rotationally amongst the WTN members, starting from the 2016. Therefore the 6th World Trails Conference will be organized by Tottori, Japan in November 2016.

The “Friendship Trail” is a program where twin organizations install the partner’s signage and trailheads on both trail and jointly promote the trails is now not only between Jeju Olle and an overseas trail, but now also amongst the WTN members who want  to twin. It is strongly expected to be a great opportunity for the WTN and ATN members to exchange much more information and get a better communication between each other.
