In the central Apennines, a new infrastructure for sport, naturalistic and cultural trekking is being born, by the initiative of seven protected natural areas and the Lazio and Abruzzo Regions.

A 430 kms race, from Rome to l’Aquila, provided by an athlete and mountain running champion, Manuel Cavalieri, has began on the occasion of the birth of the Italian capital and leads on the most famous of the Roman roads. A part of the race will meet the E1. The race started on 21 April and should end on 28 April. This event is organised in frame of the Festival valli e montagne dell’Appennino centrale 2018, which promotes the E1 in the central part of the Apennines mountains and from the Nord cap to Sicily as well.
