Poland

In Poland, there are about 65 000 km of marked footpaths. About 11 500 km are in the mountains and under the responsibility of the Polish Tourist Association (PTTK). The most interesting areas for walking are the northern region of the country with many lakes and forests, and the southern region, the Sudety, Tatra and Carpathian Mountains.

The tourist maps are usually at scales of 1:25 000 to 1:100 000 for the Sudety Mountains, of 1:750 000 for the Beskidy Mountains and of 1:30 000 for the Tatra, Pieniny and Karkonosze Mountains, and some other national parks.

Guidebooks published in Poland are in Polish. For the Tatras there are guidebooks both in English and German (see also the Slovak Republic).

Information about trails can be obtained from the  PTTK-addresses below and from regional sections of the PTTK.
