Denmark

There are many local walking and nature trails in the country. Local tourist offices can provide folders (mostly in Danish) with sketch maps.

The E-path E1 runs through Denmark from the German border to Grenaa in Jutland. The E-path E6 runs through Denmark from the German border, through Funen and Zealand and crosses the Oersund bridge to continue in Sweden.

The Army Road is the longest trails in Denmark. It is part of the E1 starting in the north in Viborg and continuing to Padborg on the Danish/German border. You can find more information on its website www.haervej.dk.
A German edition "Der Heerweg - zu Fuss und per Fahrrad" is available from ADFC, Postfach 107747, D-28077 Bremen.

The trail Gendarmstien was awarded with the label “Leading Quality Trails - Best of Europe”.

Youth hostels, inns, and camping sites offer accommodation. The book "Overnatning i det fri" contains addresses to more than 700 simple camping sites. They are open to walkers, cyclists and horse riders only.
